Weekly News Update

Good afternoon Hackeny Downs residents, I hope you are doing well.

I would like to provide you an update of what we have been doing to keep you all safe.

This week, officers from the Hackney Central and Hackney Downs Safer Neighbourhood Team has continued with its proactive patrols across the wards - Focusing on tackling crime, anti-social behaviour, and issues raised by residents.

I have summarised all of this into categories:

✅ Arrest that were made.

Officers arrested a male wanted in connection with a theft offence involving goods valued at approximately £250.

Another male was arrested for being wanted for four counts of shoplifiting - Stealing approximately over £400 worth of items..

✅ Proactive Patrols and Drug Enforcement

Seven stop and searches were conducted in areas identified as drug hopspots. These areas are identifed by local intelligence from residents and reports made to police. As a result of proactive policing and the intelligence, a male was found in possession of cannabis.

✅ Anti-Social Behaviour

Three Anti-Social Behaviour Warnings were issued to individuals whose behaviour was having a negative impact on the local community.

One Community Protection Notice was issued to address persistent anti-social behaviour.

With these being enforced, we hope that it decreases the anti-social behaviour within the ward and increase the quality of life for everyone.

✅ Community Engagement and Safeguarding

Officers continue to work closely with partner agencies to safeguard vulnerable residents and address community concerns.

Work is ongoing with partner organisations to support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties and ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.

What we will do:

The team will continue high-visibility patrols, engage with residents, and work alongside partner agencies to address crime, anti-social behaviour, and safeguarding concerns across Hackney Central and Hackney Downs.

Your intelligence and reports helps us identify local priorities, target patrols where they are most needed, and take positive action to keep our neighbourhoods safe.
